What is the W.F.C.A. ?
The Welsh Federation of Coarse Anglers is the official Sporting Governing Body for Coarse Angling in Wales. And as such we are recognised by the Sports Council for Wales, Federation of Welsh Anglers, Welsh Tourist Board, The Welsh Assembly, Environment Agency, Local Authorities, JADB and many other Government Departments, angling clubs and associations and individual anglers.
Structure of the W.F.C.A.
The W.F.C.A. is made up of the following
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is the overall central body for the federation and is made up from the officers and other key personnel. In addition representatives from each region within the federation are appointed to the committee by the Regional Councils to ensure representation at National Level.
Regional Councils
The federation has three Regional Councils, Northern, Southern and Southwest. Each region has a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Match Coordinator all nominated and appointed by the member clubs within each region.
The Regional Councils are responsible for all matters within there area of responsibility including, coaching, competitive activities, liaison with Environment Agency, recruitment, promotion etc. All regions are subject to the overall control of the W.F.C.A. Executive Committee.
What is our Role?
- The role of the WFCA is to provide a political voice to ensure our rights as anglers are protected and to respond to any consultation Government or other that effects coarse angling in general.
- To resist against anything political or otherwise or from any group or organisation that threatens the sport of angling and to work with others who share the same concerns.
- To provide support and advice to members in relation to pollution, access related issues, fishery development, conservation, predation, project development, Lease related issues,
- To implement and develop a child protection policy.
- To provide provision for competitive activities at regional, national and international level.
- To provide clubs and individuals with a comprehensive insurance cover that protects fully the clubs members, club officials and day ticket users.
- To promote the sport of coarse angling, codes of conduct and sportsmanship.
- To ensure that coarse angling in Wales receives its fair share of investment from rod licence sales and through any other funding available.
- To encourage and increase participation and help to reduce anti social behaviour by working with groups and other organisations who share the same interests and concerns.
- To promote equal opportunities within angling at club, regional and executive levels.
- To promote coarse fishing in Wales at shows and other events.
- To promote performance and excellence as identified by the Sports Council for Wales.
- To provide a network of recognised Licensed angling coaches as recognised and licensed through the FWA Coaching Foundation.
