WFCA Review on Good Environmental Codes of Practice

Under this review we want to establish clearly what the purpose of the codes intend to serve?

What activities do we wish to influence? Is it purely for angling or should we incorporate other outdoor activities within the Codes of Practice?

Who should we be trying to influence (is it members, or anglers in general) or should we also incorporate other water way users especially on rivers and canal?

What about the general Public and those that walk around our lakes or along the stretches of canals or rivers?

What would be the best way to communicate our message?

It is extremely important in this day and age that angling is seen to be more conservation minded than ever before. After all are anglers not considered to be guardians of the countryside and our waters?

Many Clubs own or lease waters both still waters and stretches of canals or rivers and more often than not are in areas away from residential towns or villages.

But when we participate in our sport we must be made more aware of our responsibilities as anglers especially when you consider the vast different species of wildlife that surrounds our waters.

The most common issues to be incorporated into this policy are rubbish, discarded line etc. What we are looking for is more in depth issues.

So if you think that you can contribute towards this review then e-mail your concerns and response to robindarker@aol.com
