Fishing Abroad
Fishing Abroad
1. Do you fish abroad?
2. Have you got a picture of any
fish caught abroad?
3. Have you got a story to tell?
4. Have you got any details or
recommendations on where to stay?
Many anglers are traveling abroad to catch bigger bags of fish or to catch more exotic species of fish and much bigger fish than you would normally catch at home.
And with the demand growing many are asking if we can provide an area on our site that can provide stories from anglers that travel abroad and pictures of the fish they have caught. Even perhaps provide recommendations and contact details on where to stay.
So if you have some info or photos to share with the rest of us please e-mail them to robindarker@aol.com
World Record 215 lb Catfish for Martin!
www.ebro-catfishing.com guide Martin Fawcett has pulled off a major coup by capturing the current World Record at a massive 215 lb. The fish, which was 7ft8ins long, beats the existing record by 3 lb and was the highlight of a memorable session in which other fish of 125 lb, 126 lb, 147 lb and 147 lb were banked.
Fishing for himself from the bank during some long awaited time off from guiding, Martin baited a swim with 100 kg of Halibut pellets and sat back to await action. Within minutes the hook bait was taken and the first fish of this historic haul (125lb) was landed.
During the following 2 days the other 3 hundreds were snared using the same method, but even these could not have prepared Martin for what was to follow. His rod roared off again and the fish took off like a ‘runaway train’, stripping over 100 yards of line on it’s initial run. A tense, dogged battle was to ensue with plenty of nerve jangling moments before this monster was finally subdued after a full half hour.
The awesome fish was then weighed with the help of 2 German anglers who were fishing nearby, then photographed and quickly returned to the water to return to the depths unharmed.
This achievement represents a fitting reward for all the hard work and effort which Martin puts into catching these mighty fish for his customers.
