Community Chest Funding

Community Chest Funding has benefited many angling clubs and associations affiliated to the WFCA. Many other sports and community based projects have also benefited from this scheme that awards up to £1,000 per application in any one year.

Your project or scheme must encourage participation, encourage more people to become more physically active, encourage training of coaches and community based activities.

Many clubs within the WFCA have obtained funding to put anglers through the Federation of Welsh Anglers Coaching Courses.

In addition some clubs have obtained grants to purchase items of fishing equipment to aid coaches in running coaching activities.

Any organisation can apply, if you have a bank account or building society account that is held in the name of the organisation.

Sports Council for Wales Additional Funding Opportunities

The Sports Council for Wales provide opportunities for clubs and Governing Bodies to tap into or apply for funding for specific projects or activities such as Community Chest. But moving away from the Community Chest Scheme several other opportunities may be suitable for some clubs or associations such as the following.

Capital Grants
This is for projects with a value of between £5m and £7m and is usually for building or refurbishing of sporting facilities.

Elite Cymru
This is for supporting talented competitors and the WFCA International Competitors are eligible for funding if they come in the top 10% individual classifications at World or European Level. Several Internationals from the WFCA have benefited from this scheme in the past.

Minor Grants
This is perhaps the most common grant available that would suit the vast majority of clubs. This grant scheme funds projects that create new, additional or improved opportunities to play sport.

Sports Match
This scheme is the National Assembly Government's business incentive scheme that is managed by the Sports Council for Wales. If for example you are able to obtain a sponsor for an event etc, the SCW will match that sponsorship £ for £.
